A Younger Theatre

A Younger Theatre

Artistic Director and Founder – 2009 to Present
www.ayoungertheatre.com
I founded A Younger Theatre.com in 2009, an organisation supporting and developing emerging creative talent in theatre. AYT is a publication, production company and resource. Through the publication AYT has supported the development of over 300 young writers, was named About.com’s Best Theatre Blog of 2011 and has been a partner with The Guardian’s Culture Professionals Network. AYT has also run events with the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal Opera House, English National Opera and Old Vic Theatre. In 2014 we begun producing Incoming Festival (below).

Incoming Festival

Incoming Festival

Co-Director and Founder – 2014 to Present
www.incomingfestival.com

Incoming Festival was founded in 2014 to celebrate the best emerging theatre companies. Spanning 10 days the festival is produced and co-directed by A Younger Theatre in partnership with New Diorama Theatre. As part of the festival I produce, programme and administrate the running of the festival which in 2015 included 23 theatre companies from across the UK. The festival supports emerging theatre companies through bursaries, fair fees and box office splits and opportunities to lead workshops. Incoming Festival is also a partner with the Peter Brook Awards to present the Peter Brook Festival Award to the best emerging company as part of the festival.

Dialogue

Dialogue

Co-Curator – 2012 to Present
www.welcometodialogue.com

In 2012 in a collaboration with Maddy Costa we founded Dialogue, a company that brings together those that make theatre, write about theatre and see theatre. Dialogue aims to break down boundaries, offer new forms of engagement and removing the idea of the theatre critic as the authorative voice. Dialogue has been resident at Battersea Arts Centre, National Theatre Studio and Bush Theatre. As a company we lead the monthly Dialogue Theatre Club with resident slots at Almeida Theatre and Royal Court Theatre. In 2014 we founded the Dialogue Festival: Talking/Making/Taking Part, a weekend festival of interactive participation discussions and performances. The festival is set to return early 2016.

With Soundboxed Collective I’m producing their latest show The Last Temple through final research and development stages to full production run in 2016. The company’s work sits between music, gig and theatre. I’m leading on partnership building, budgets and strategic planning for the company’s work.

In October 2014 I began producing circus-theatre company Circumference. Working as their producer I handle all aspects of the producing of the company’s work, including the first full length production, Shelter me, which premiered in a seven-week run at Theatre Delicatessen in 2015. As the company’s producer I handle finances, grant writing, logistics, marketing, admin and production elements. Circumference are associate artists at Jacksons Lane.

Digital Events
The Royal Opera House, Theatre Royal Stratford East, The Junction and Old Vic Theatre

As part of my work with A Younger Theatre I have run events in collaboration with arts organisations which offer young people the chance to experiment and explore a building and performance. This led to a Digital Takeover of the Royal Opera House in March 2012, a digital-led initiative and platform for Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2013 , live-blogging the Sampled Festival at The Junction and live-blogging the Old Vic Theatre’s 24 Hour Plays.
